Forging Frontiers: Rachel Carson, Sacagawea and Louise A. Boyd – Women Who Made a Difference

What? You can actually meet Rachel Carson, marine biologist and mother of the environmental movement, Sacagawea, Native American guide to the Lewis and Clark expedition, and Arctic explorer-Louise A. Boyd?  You bet!  In this dramatic musical performance you will be in the same room Forging Frontiers with these courageous role models as they dare to speak out and take bold action to help solve national and world challenges. Clever on-stage costume and make-up changes transport you through history as you learn important life-lessons how to persevere and work for your goals. A Q & A session with the artist will follow the performance.

Tickets are $10 per person, or $20 per family. Recommended for ages 8 and older

A life long community activist, Kate served as Board Chair of Empowered Women International from 2009-2013 and was recognized as 2012 and 2015 Maryland Top 100 Women” by The Daily Record, for her significant professional accomplishments, outstanding community leadership, and inspirational mentoring. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of The Rachel Carson Landmark Alliance.  In 2015 the Maryland State Education Association honored Kate with the MSEA Dorothy Lloyd Women’s Rights Award. The award honors persons, groups, or programs for their accomplishments in the field of girls’ and women’s rights.  Kate is currently featured in the Maryland Women’s Heritage Center’s exhibit Images and Expressions: Maryland Women in the Arts.

Online registration ends 24 hours prior to the event. If a program is canceled by the Conservancy, participants will be notified and offered a refund. All other program fees are non-refundable and support educational programs at the Conservancy. Organized groups may not be able to be accommodated at our free programs. Please contact the Conservancy about scheduling a separate program for your group.
