SOLD OUT: Frog Calls for Beginners AND Counting Birds How-to

February 10, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Free

Unfortunately this popular program has sold out. We hope you can join us for another upcoming event, and please remember to register early!

Join us for this exciting free program: Frog Calls for Beginners AND Counting Birds How-to with Woody Merkle!

Frog Calls

Believe it or not the first frogs of the year will begin calling within the next month!  Learn how to easily identify the most common frogs found in Howard County by their calls.  You will be able to hear a number of them from your backyard as we transition from winter to summer!

Great Backyard Bird Count

This is a world-wide citizen science project that provides data to scientists studying bird populations and distributions.  This year’s GBBC takes place on February 16-19.  Learn how to participate in the Count and then spend time with members of the Howard County Bird Club observing birds at the Conservancy’s feeders.  Bring binoculars if you have them!

Woody Merkle is a long-time Volunteer Naturalist with the Howard County Conservancy.  He has also volunteered as a naturalist with Howard County Recreation and Parks, the Howard County School system and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.  He is a member of the Howard County Bird Club and has participated in the Frog Watch USA citizen science program.
