Birding by Ear (registration full)

March 11, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free

Did you know that each species of bird has calls and songs that are unique? …that we often hear a bird before we see it? …that a few birds can only be identified by their calls and songs? …that some birds imitate the calls and songs of other birds? Identifying birds by their calls and songs is fun and easy. Join Naturalist Woody Merkle and members of the Howard County Bird Club for an introduction to learning the calls and songs of some of our more common birds, tips on how to remember bird calls, and resources for continuing to learn more.

After and introduction covering the basics of birding by ear, we will take a walk around the grounds of Mt. Pleasant to identify who is calling and singing that day.

This is an introductory program for folks wanting to get started in birding by ear. Please dress for the weather, the program will go on as scheduled rain or shine. Binoculars are not necessary but are helpful if you have them.
