Summer Nature Camps at Mt. Pleasant

The Conservancy offers eight weeks of full-day nature camps in one week sessions. Our nature camp encourages children to learn about Howard County’s ecology and natural history in a fun and exciting way through stories, hiking and hands-on exploration of Mt. Pleasant. The Conservancy’s summer day camp is for children ages 5 – 11 and runs from 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. with before and after care available. $250 per session.

June 23 – 27: What’s Buggin’ You?

Explore the world through the eyes of a bug! Learn where bugs live, what they eat, how they change throughout their lives, and why they are so important.

June 30 – July 3 (with the 4th off): Art and the Environment

Beauty and wonder can be found everywhere in nature. Get inspired by the natural environment while expressing your creative side. Make a mud painting, create a recycled birdfeeder and design a floral collage.

July 7 – 11: Turtles, Snakes, & Toads Oh My!

Meet all these creatures and more as you explore the wonders of Mt. Pleasant’s reptile and amphibian world.

July 14 – 18: Radical Rockers

Explore the world under your feet! Find out how rocks and soil form over time. Conduct field experiments and become a junior soil scientist/geologist.

July 21 - 25: The Land Before Our Time

Become a Howard County Historian. Go back in time and experience how people once lived while learning about the changes that have occured since the Mt. Pleasant was settled.

July 28 – August 1: Jr. Animal Trackers

Follow the evidence left behind by the creatures that call Mt. Pleasant home to discover who they are, what they eat and where they live. Enjoy a family night hike.

August 4 – 8: Jr. Survival Adventures

What do you do when you get lost in the wilderness? Find out how to survive under the most extreme conditions.

August 11 – 15: Watershed Wonders

During the hottest month of the year, cool off under the shade of our trees and splash in our streams. Learn about the many organisms living in the water, how they survive and where our rivers flow!
